My Rantings & Ravings :)

Need fuel?

Rant time! I don’t drive my car much lately, we drive Caterina’s car around as it has the baby seat fixed in it. But anyway it’s been a month since I needed to get fuel for my car. So the other night about 10:30pm on my way home I decided to stop and grab some petrol.

I forgot how frustrating it is at most places nowdays, 5 minutes to pump fuel in and another 5 minutes to stand in line to pay. People buying pies, pasties, bread, smokes, phone recharge cards, milk, local paper, donuts, getting some cash out, and everything else. Mmm a new street directory, how much is that? You guys got batteries? You do, which aisle? Cool, back soon.

Gah! It’s fuel, I have cash, please let me pay, where’s the line for people who just want to buy fuel!

Every minute in your mini-mart queue is another minute for me to remember that next time I’ll be buying fuel at a petrol station, not a wanna be supermarket who just put the local deli out of business.

Posting something

Ok, so who else has been to the Post Office lately and found it such a pain to actually post something? Today I wasted nearly 20mins of my (late 2:30pm) lunch break in a massive long queue at the local Post Office.

I walked in, selected a CD box for the CD I wanted to post, scribbled an address on it and wandered over to the queue. There I waited and waited and waited, in the end the transaction took less than 45 seconds, after a good 15 to 20minute wait, I must been one of the rarities now days who just want to use the Post Office to post stuff.

People there to do photocopies, send faxes, have their passport photo done, withdraw their pension or benefit money, recharge their prepaid phone, buy a street directory, paying their phone bill, electricity bill, gas bill, car registration. Gah!! Doing everything under the sun but posting stuff.

Australia Post need to lift their game and focus on providing a decent service to people who want to post stuff, not being a convenience one stop shop for everything else under the sun.

Businesses do best when they focus on their core business and product, in todays world where businesses want to grab as much of the pie as possible they are easily distracted and lose focus. Remember the customer… pretty please 🙂
